Dyslexia
According to the Rose Report (2009), dyslexia is:
"A learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling."
Key features of Dyslexia include difficulties with phonological awareness (understanding and working with sounds in words); problems with verbal memory, verbal processing speed and working memory.
These difficulties are unexpected in relation to a child's other abilities and occur despite high quality first teaching and being taught a systematic synthetic phonics program from Reception.
Children with dyslexia may:
- Struggle to read fluently
- Have trouble spelling
- Find it hard to remember spoken instructions
At Think Differently, learner's can receive individualised attention, tailored to their specific learning needs and pace. Any learning material is customised to match the learner's interests, strengths and weaknesses, making the learning process more engaging and effective.
